Over the last little while I have had lots of wonderful ‘mornings’ with the kids. In fact, I find myself having more of them than I had expected as J is now taking most Sunday mornings to go skiing… and with Isabel’s broken arm, she is no longer joining him. I admire his ability to always be able to carve out time for himself… and to know exactly what it is that will bring him a sense of feeling balanced. No doubt, this is part of the reason he is able to stay calm in moments that many of us (aka… me!) might not be so graceful. This has meant that I have my weekdays with the kids, and Sunday mornings too… and Saturdays are the precious family days.
Last Sunday, was one of those perfect, magical mornings… the kids were… amazing. They were cooperative, they devoured their egg burrito breakfast, they enjoyed mangos and blueberries for morning snack, and we even played outside… in the sun! Of course, Anaïs sported her pyjamas for our walk around the neighbourhood… thankfully they are warm and fleecy and she (at least!) put on a sweater. But seriously, when this girl makes up her mind… watch out. It’s quite interesting how forceful she can be, because at the same time she always shows us what a ‘pleaser’ she is. She is constantly helping both her brother and sister, and feels happiest (it seems) when she can be mama’s helper too.

i absolutely adore this photo… for me it stands alone as the girls stand side by side… together… looking in different directions… showing their own unique expressions.
Last week, we were overjoyed to get invited to enjoy some of the perks that local life has to offer… we took a boat across the lake. Oh my, the kids loved just staring out into the lake. It was amazing how such a simple experience can offer so much joy, so much excitement… i swear, they could have sat transfixed just watching the waves float by. And i… i could have stayed transfixed just watching them. Seeing the world with fresh eyes as they immersed into the moment.

lately, anytime i bring out the camera (even on my phone), Leo instantly says “cheeeeeeez”… and this is the expression which inevitably results!!

the peace of looking out on to the water… 20 minutes of total calm (thankfully the waters were not turbulent despite a bit of wind on shore).
Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Love the photo of the girls too! And the shot of Leo from behind, on the boat…..gorgeous!!!! I can see that enlarged to a poster! And the outfits. These are the best dressed kids on the planet. Don’t let Ralph Lauren find them or they will be working full time! Sounds like it was a perfect day……love Shari
